Many thanks for letting me read your most interesting website. I came over on the S.S.Waterman in 1955 with my family, we where born in Amsterdam. The pictures of the ship came up beautiful and brought back many happy and I suppose also sad memories. Could you tell me as I was in the Royal Australian Navy for some time, is there a site which has photo`s of all the Dutch Navy? Many thanks once again. Tot ziens Paul

Thank you for sharing all your hard work.

It was a lucky day for me when I first visited your web site. I had been looking for information on an old ship of mine for years, but had always drawn a blank up till now.

I am indebted to you for sharing your (obviously) vast knowledge in this area. Not only do I have a complete history of the ship now, from the date that her keel was laid right up to the date and place that she was broken up, but to discover that she was broken up only 30 miles from where I live came as a real surprise. There was no record of this anywhere on the Internet that I could find. Thank you also for filling in the blanks in her service, such as the modifications made 1971/1972 and why the moon pool was installed etc.. All the pieces of the puzzle have finally fallen into place.

I wish you all the best for the future and can not thank you enough for filling in all the gaps.

Sincerely,
Jim McLaren

Most enjoyable site. I was on the Willem Ruys 1954 at age 14 it was an exciting journey from Uk to Singapore. Horrified to learn the eventual fate of this beautiful ship. Also was on the Oranjew later. How an earth did they manage to collide? Thanks for bringing back some nostalgia and memories.
